10 years.
I started this book club when I was 8 months pregnant
with my 2nd child. I did it for my sanity. For my salvation. For my soul.
It started with postcards. Not Evite or Facebook or
Twitter or email. Postcards with stamps
sent to a group of women who I thought may be interested in sharing my love of
reading. A group of 10 (I think?) showed
up at my house. We read To Kill a
Mockingbird.
I had no idea it would last 10 years – or that we would
be living in the same place for that long.
In that time over 50 women have read, discussed, laughed,
indulged, cried with us. One of our
members died.
Has book group had any long lasting effect on any of
these women? I can’t say.
All I know is, on the 3rd Thursday of each month – there is
no place that I would rather be than at book club.
I feel the same way about my book club, but it's only been in existence for less than three years! I hope it stays together long enough to have a 10-year anniversary! I'm glad you have such a wonderful group to meet with!
ReplyDeleteyes, it has made a lasting impression. Thanks friend.
ReplyDelete10 years is definitely worth celebrating! And I'm sure your book club has had an impact on its members. How could it not? I started my book club 3 1/2 years ago and I hope we make it to 10.
ReplyDeleteThat's so wonderful that you have a book club that has lasted so long and that people are so Congrats on making it 10 years!
ReplyDelete*so invested in. (silly computer)
ReplyDeleteWe've been meeting on the third Thursday for nine years this next month! I can't wait to celebrate the 10th anniversary! Congrats to you. Sounds like it's been awesome.
